Wesley Woods 2017 Mother’s Day Offering Raises $226,766
Leaders of the Foundation of Wesley Woods are grateful to announce that, thanks to the members of The North Georgia Conference of The United Methodist Church, $226,766 was raised through the 2017 Mother’s Day Offering. Funds raised go to the benevolence care needs of those 1,800 older adult residents across 10 communities in Georgia who are living at Wesley Woods, but have exhausted their financial resources.
“I am so proud that Roswell United Methodist Church has led the North Georgia Conference in giving to the Wesley Woods Mother’s Day Offering for the past two years,” said Rev. Dr. Tom Davis, senior minister of Roswell United Methodist Church. “We are thankful that the ministry of Wesley Woods opens doors for United Methodists to provide comfort and peace of mind to older adults so they can experience joy and happiness no matter what obstacles they face.”
“Every year, more and more older adults are outliving their financial resources and may face homelessness,” said Tracy Crump, president and CEO of the Foundation of Wesley Woods. “Thanks to the generous support we receive from donors and the annual Mother’s Day Offering, those seniors who need help bridging the financial gap will remain in their Wesley Woods home, where they experience thriving lives full of independence and purpose.”
While churches responded generously in 2017, the need for benevolence care still exceeded the amount required to meet the financial needs of all its residents. Wesley Woods is seeking more support in 2018 so it can provide appropriate care for all in need.
Bishop Sue Haupert-Johnson has designated Sunday, May 13, 2018 as Wesley Woods Sunday in the more than 900 churches of The North Georgia Conference of The United Methodist Church.
