Because of the support of generous donors like you, older adults at Wesley Woods live with dignity and purpose in a community of love.
Did you know, every 8.5 seconds, someone in the U. S. turns 65? That’s 10,000 people a day – every day! The need to assure our seniors have the highest quality of life possible is of vital importance and is only becoming more so as our nation experiences the “silver tsunami.”
Aging can be a time of isolation, loneliness, loss, and lack of purpose. But research shows that older adults who are living lives of connection, contribution and wellness are proven to experience greater joy, happiness and relevancy. This takes much more than only providing a roof over their heads, it takes a caring community where older adults can enjoy health and wellness, engaging activities, religious programs and services, and companionship.
With your support, those we serve can experience the happy side of aging at Wesley Woods – which is vitally important to them, their family, and in fact, the entire community. But without the philanthropic support of caring individuals like you, it becomes a different aging journey – one in which older adults will continue to live in fear of becoming a burden, outliving their financial resources and even becoming homeless.
Living longer is paired with a greater number of health issues across a longer horizon. The biggest portion of an individual’s healthcare costs typically occur in the last years of that person’s life, and this need is also one of the largest and fastest-growing burdens of taxpayer-funded federal and state budgets. Caring for our seniors is not only a matter of social justice, but is an economic imperative as well!
But there is so much room for optimism as generous support from others makes it possible for our residents to remain in their Wesley Woods homes, living independently longer and remaining contributors to society, not burdens.
