Wesley Woods 2016 Mother’s Day Offering Raises $245,669
Leaders of the Foundation of Wesley Woods are grateful to announce that, thanks to the members of the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church, $245,669 was raised through the 2016 Mother’s Day Offering. Funds raised help 75% of the over 1,800 Wesley Woods older adult residents across 10 communities who need financial assistance to remain in their homes, and 40% of whom are living below the poverty line.
“I was honored to receive recognition that RUMC led the North Georgia Conference in giving to the Wesley Woods Mother’s Day Offering in 2016,” said Dr. Mike Long, senior minister of Roswell United Methodist Church. “My good friend Bill Britt, senior minister at Peachtree Road UMC, has led the conference in giving to Wesley Woods for the past nine years. Wesley Woods is the true winner in our friendly competition each year, but it sure was nice to see RUMC at the top of the conference leaderboard!”
“At Wesley Woods, we exhaust all resources to ensure our seniors never have to leave what has become their home because of their financial circumstances,” said Tracy Crump, president and CEO of the Foundation of Wesley Woods. “This unique policy is only made possible by the generous support we receive from donors and the annual Mother’s Day Offering.”
While churches responded generously in 2016, the need for benevolence care still exceeded the amount required to meet the financial needs of all its residents. Wesley Woods is seeking more support in 2017 so it can provide appropriate care for all in need.
Bishop Sue Haupert-Johnson has designated Sunday, May 14, 2017 as Wesley Woods Sunday in the more than 900 churches of the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church.
